I sell a small range of quality dreadlock care products and accessories. Mobile barbering service is available for the housebound, older folk, disabled whanau, & the sensory sensitive.

My own dreadlock journey began 16 years ago, & 6 years ago it evolved into a small business when I left my job in healthcare. I enjoy my work, and the conversations I have. How often should I get my dreadlocks maintained and how long will it take?

I recommend you maintain your dreadlocks every 3 to 4 months to keep them looking fresh and healthy. Regular maintenance aids scalp care. However, your dread journey is yours, and you know your hair best. Some clients come 6 monthly. Generally maintenance takes 1-3 hours - unless it's been over a year since your last session.

Do you do dreadlock extensions? And can I add dreadlocks?

Yes, however in my mahi I choose to only use synthetic extensions because hair is tapu and carries mauri (life force). Therefore because I don't know where or who human hair extensions are sourced from, I have made the decision not to put someone else's mauri on your head. Yes I can add extensions of any colour to your current dreads to thicken their appearance.

Can you reattach dreadlocks? What about nits?

Yes. If you cut off your dreadlocks and want them reattached, no problem. You will need at least 5 inches of hair growth. If you find nits you don't have to cut them off. Use a lice shampoo or teatree shampoo and remove lice with tweezers. You can use a hair straightener on dry dreadlocks. The heat kills the lice.

A mobile barbering service?

I believe all people carry value. Having worked as a caregiver in the community with older folks & the disabled, I am also qualified in dementia.i have grandsons who are disabled & autistic. I understand the difficulties of being homebound, or being unable to access a barbering service due to disability, sensory sensitivity, or cost. I come to you and will go at the pace you set.
